The Sweazy Family

A number of years ago, we thought that we had figured out exactly what God’s purpose was for our life…
Happily married, beautiful healthy baby, huge church family, home owners, and a dream come true career as a firefighter. What more could we possibly ask for, right? Yet most of us are still quite unsatisfied with these seemingly good blessings, and the insatiable urge for more is never quenched. We have been living comfortable, safe lives and Jesus set the bar higher than that. In Matthew 5: 6-11 Jesus tells us that,
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied…Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.”
Have you ever really THIRSTED for righteousness? By having an insistent craving that can only be mitigated by conforming to the high standards that Christ Jesus set before us. That kind of thirst our family has never known, until we started surrendering all to Him. We relinquished our hopes, dreams, plans, and comforts to the Lord and He revealed exactly what He wants us to do. Sell everything we have, and sojourn where ever He leads us!

We met in high school, and we have been almost inseparable ever since. We have been married for seven years now, and like most married couples we have always wanted to have children (biological and/or adopted). September of 2010 the Lord blessed us with a precious baby girl. We named her Ava Grace, and we are so thankful that God has entrusted us with her; she is a pure joy. In November of 2012 God blessed us with a baby boy named Boaz Zechariah Ray, our prayer is that he will be a great man of peace! Our newest bundle of joy is Hadassah Faith, born in Kenya November 2014! In December 2015 we lost our baby boy Isaac during the pregnancy. We know God is good and He is always faithful!

Our family followed the call to move to Western Kenya, April of 2014. God has truly taught us so much. Before we moved to East Africa we sold our cars, furniture, packed a few totes, loaded up our (then) three year old, one year old, and baby on the way and headed across the world. God has done, and is continuing to do big things. From having our first birth abroad, caring for malnourished babies and children, and assisting widows. This has been an exciting journey for our family. This year the opportunity to foster to adopt five Ugandan children came our way and we have been blessed to receive 5 new little ones in the name of Jesus!

We are apart of a fellowship in Boston, MA called Followers of the way and are currently planting a new fellowship in Kampala Uganda. We desire to plant the seed of the Kingdom into the hearts of men, care for the needs around us, and walk in obedience to our King.

If you would like to follow us as we go on this adventure and daily strive to be more like Jesus we invite you to subscribe to our blog: the2819call.blogspot.com.
Most importantly, we ask for your prayers not only for us, but the people we will be ministering to. Jesus turned to his disciples and said,
“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38
